Damn Everything But the Circus
The work in this exhibit was inspired by the following quote attributed to e. e. cummings:
damn everything that is grim, dead, motionless, unrisking, inward turning. damn everything that won’t get into the circle, that won’t enjoy, that won’t throw its heart into the tension, surprise, fear and delight of the circus, the round world, the full existence.
– e. e. cummings
I trust that I’ve been able to communicate these sentiments, painting with energy, bravery and
joyful abandon.
Asemic Writing
A form of writing with no specific semantic content – an expressive form of writing that can only be interpreted by the viewer with the tools of instinct, empathy, intuition and emotion
I love text but often feel uncomfortable writing anything specific in my art work. This offers me a great stepping stone towards adding text and in another way to add visual textures.
